(Note: this blog was ment to be posted on Dec. 31st, but due to problems with the phone company is posted a day late).
Well its the end of the year once again! Which means that.... well it doesn’t really mean anything dose it other than its no longer 2009 and now 2010. That’s weird. You know what else is weird, when people talk about this decade its going to be called the turn of the century. And normally we associate the term "Turn of the Century" to the early 1900's and the types of houses that they built.
Well Not to much has happened since my last post. I finished my first semester at MCTC with crappy grades, Intro to Homeland Security = A, Juvenile Justice = A, Intro to Corrections = B, Police and the Community = C. Its the C that pisses me off. I could and should have done better.
Christmas day was alright though, I love my family and I got smashed. And it seems to be a new tradition that Emily, Ross, Cassie and I play Presidents and Assholes. We keep coming up with crazy hats for it too. Last year the asshole wore this hat that we made out of a paper bag and a plastic bag, and the president had a plastic cup tied to their head, but that was swapped out for a mullet wig. Well this year the Asshole hat was a camo safari hat with some turkey feathers stuck into it. and the Presidents hat was a tiara. It was fun.
I don't have the pictures from this last Christmas on my computer yet, sorry.
#4. Number 4 was one that I had been trying to read for years, but had only gotten a few chapters into each time, well I did it! It also happens to be one of my all time favorite movies, its none other than Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton.
#5. The fifth book was one that astounded and baffled me and made me love Judy Garland even more. I will always have her as my hero. The book is soon to be turned into a movie starring Anne Hathaway as Judy, to this I am not happy, I would have preferred Norah Jones better. The book is Get Happy by Gerald Clarke, who also wrote the biography of Capote.
#6. this one was a must read by my cousin, so I finally gave in to make him happy. I must say it was very eye opening, even enlightening, although I am no were near total enlightenment. I gess in a few years I'll have to read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle again.
#7. the last book I had finished in May, and had tried very unsuccessfully to read a few other books but because of my summer job reading wasn't a high priority, so number 7 came up in august after camp was over. I instantly fell in love with this book and the struggle of the writer as she tried so hard to cook her way through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking Vol. 1, unfortunately the movie of Julie and Julia by Julie Powell was so off of the real Julie Powell I have no desire to watch it again.
#8. Thank God for Audio Books! As many of you know I commute an hour to get to school and the audio books are the only thing that have kept me sane, the first one that I picked up was X Files: Ruins by Kevin J. Anderson. who I realized had also written a crappy Star Wars book series that I have.
#9. The next Audio book was Salem's Lot by Stephen King, and I had grown utterly attached to it, although by far not my favorite Stephen King book, but I was sucked into the story so much that I didn't want to get out of the car when I would get to school or home.
#10. Tom Clancy's Op-Center was the next Audio book, I wasn’t impressed, although good.
#11. Book 11 was one that I had been working on reading since August, and mainly only read it for class, but I'm glad I did anyway NewJack by Ted Conover was one of the most well written books I have ever read.
#14. was the last Audio Book it was a newly released short story by Stephen King. So naturally I loved that one too! But seriously The Gingerbread Girl by Stephen King is fantastic a must read because its so unlike his other "horror".
#15. number 15 was another that I had been trying to read for years but finally got around to finish it. Its by my favorite author its no other than Goldfinger by Ian Fleming.
#16. The furthest I had ever read in this book series was book one of the first book and that was in the ninth grade! But I couldn't truly comprehend what I was reading, my reading level I guess was just to low for the Epic Fantasy The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien. I have continued this series since I just finished number 17 this morning.
#17. of course as we all know from earlier on that the last book of the year was no other than Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn. the very last book of the Twilight series.
Ok so that’s done! I don't really have to much else to say.
I'm going to see the new Sherlock Homes movie with my friend Josh today. We went to go see Avatar last week, that was an alright movie. I don't think it deserved the hype that it was getting, but it was pretty cool. After that Josh and me hung out at the house he was house sitting. (that was a weird sentence). He showed me a couple of movies that good. they were both gay movies too! The first one we watched was called Latter Days it was really good! The other one was called Shelter that one wasn't as great but we had fun going all mystery science theater on it. I have this feeling that Josh is thinking that this friendship is going to lead to a relationship. And although I could see having a relationship with him, I just don't see him in that way. Right now I'm just enjoying the friendship. Oh the struggles of being gay!
Oh and I have sad news! I know you all really don't care, but my beloved Monk Carlisle in D&D died last Sunday night. But I believe that I have created a better character in his sted. As those of us whom play D&D together know that I simply couldn't resist making a contrast to our most simple party member Thog the Halforc Barbarian who thinks that he is a Holy Paladin. No a Halforc is by far the tallest race in the game (that’s known to me). So what did I do I created a Halfling Paladin named Philliep! And he is just a total ass, I love it this is going to be so much fun! I only wished that we met more often and changed up the location from time to time, I know that our DM has to work after but we should try and work something out sometime.
Any who! I think that will be all for today!
Lots o love!
JD
